The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
