Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Beloved Titles
In the vein of the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some familiar faces, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games already confirmed for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
