Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, many players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Gamers have begun using tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. There are four types of assignments, but where most merely grant cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of acquiring twelve from the forty-one key firearms found within the game.
A number of these restricted firearms may soon earn a place on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash across Reddit
Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and only works at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Task
One more community participant brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is tough enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, another expansive area, and perhaps an additional option at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding multiplayer missions, expecting a more balanced gaming experience in future updates.
